Pros & Cons

Pros

After sanding the black paint away, the machete performs better than my condors. It's made great, but there's one problem. Otherwise though, it's very sturdy.

This cold steel's a keeper though. Pleased with my purchase and this shopping exp.

You know your wrist will roll when you get to choppin. The roughness of the grip shouldn't hurt anybody with sense. Wear gloves or wrap the handle to avoid hotspots during extended use.

Nice sheath. Doesn't feel cumbersome to wear throughout the day. Wish it were set up also for molle attachment.

Cons

In 2018 this apparently comes unsharpened, whereas in the past evidently they were sold sharpened. Came very dull out of the box. They seem to spend their money on hype instead of steel.

Quality

Steel seems to be a good mix of soft for durable and hard for edge retention.

Length is perfect, sheath it’s vastly improved.

So i ran it through my sharp makers for about 15 minutes and it wore off the coating but the blade is still not real sharp.

The steel on these is top flight, and i once watched a "test to failure" torture test on these and it took unreal abuse before failure.

Price

This thing has been a dream for the price.

Until then, this is a great value on what feels so far like a very nice, versatile machete.

It's a $30 blade folks, don't expect $400 dollar steel.

Not a huge deal, they came off with a ceramic sharpener and a few minutes.

Shipping

The product arrived in a timely manner and the fit/finish were good.

Competitiveness

But it is far nicer than the cheapo machete you buy at the local farm store.

    Otherwise though its very sturdy

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Most of the abuse when cutting occurs in the sweet spot in the outward curve of the blade so that is the area that must be kept sharp

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Speaking of sharp this came with the black coating on the edge of the blade as well as the rest of the blade

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

As a result it was about as sharp as the back side of a butter knife

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Youd think they would sharpen after coating it

So i ran it through my sharp makers for about 15 minutes and it wore off the coating but the blade is still not real sharp
