Pros & Cons

Pros

Forward curving blade works well for shaping wood. Stiff carbon steel with some flex and holds its edge decently. Carbon steel is a fantastic steel for a blade, but it will rust if not maintenance with a good mineral oil.

Came in a nice sheath, but needs a gift box for giving. The sheaf is more then adequate to store the blade. Cold steel gets a lot of flak but they are a decent budget option for bladed weapons. It has a good handle and a well-balanced blade, the sheat...  Read More

It's extremely fast and maneuverable. Steel is thick like a knife, so there is no traditional machete wobble. Good quality and very ergonomic.

For the con side, wish the handle was slightly thicker it wants to roll in the hand at times.

Cons

The texture on the handle combined with the tendency to twist in hand causes it to leave you with blisters faster than other blades i have worked with. The blade tip is not and even grind.

Quality

) the blade is reasonably sharp for a chopping tool, and the handle is a nice quality rubber with a solid feel.

Great blade, i’ve used it going camping 12 times so far, and it’s been capable of cutting down sizable trees each time.

The knife is obviously made from flat rolled steel and stamped or laser cut to shape.

Damn good blade for a stamp and grind mass produced knife.

Price

In terms of functionality for the price i consider this a win.

This one i hands down the best you can buy for the money.

You paid less than $40 for it.

A value priced chopper with a larger forward sweet spot .

Packaging/appearance

It is reasonably light and is readily packable.

Came sharp enough to shave which for a machete is pretty good.

Came out of the package stupid dull, but 10 minutes with a file transformed it into a razor sharp weapon.

Came in the mail razor sharp like all cold steel cutlery!

Competitiveness

It makes me wonder if cold steel has two factories or contractors in south africa and one uses this enamel finish.
