You have to depress the spine button with heavy continuous force and theres no unsharpened kick area to safely contact your finger against during closure

Things could go wrong in the hands of someone that doesnt understand it comes with a degree of edge fragility

This is not the knife to use the kind of thumb stud they picked out

You can still do it by very carefully overhanging the edge of the stone on the knife and keeping your fingers out of the way of the blade while doing it but thats not it should be

And the same problem can happen taking very shallow cuts in woodcarving where the thumb stud hits the piece

It doesnt ruin my opinion of the knife but it is a glaring design oversight and i hope it gets improved in future versions
