Pros & Cons
Pros
S35vn is a high grade steel that is durable, strong, and fairly easy to sharpen. The serrated tanto has a lefty chisel grind (flat on the right side of the blade) for its secondary bezel. Clip point glides through edc tasks due to it's grind but for a... Read More
I'm not too savvy when it comes to knives so i popped into a few forums and noticed cold steel was mentioned pretty regularly.
Love the ergonomics of the knife. Is it the best? It functions well. This knife is perfect for the right operator. It is a beast.
Cons
Sometimes it looks like the blade may be warped. It is a chisel grind so it is only a one sided edge. The grind is so uneven that even with precision angle sharpening and literally weeks of work, one bevel is a full millimeter wider than the other.
The tanto logo doesn't match the logo on amazon or the official cold steel website. The steel is fantastic and extremely hard, so this has taken ages, and i still end up with a very unsightly and noticeably uneven set of bevels.
Handles are smooth and textured but feel unsubstantial. If you wear size xl gloves the finger groves seem to be sized for a child. The thumb stud is smaller on that side making it more difficult to open one handed. The screw is not comfortable at all ... Read More
A lot of these knives have defective locks and exchanging those for another may get you a good one. Worst part is since the company is going down hill faster then a jet powered skier there's no point in trying to get it fixed.

Ounce for ounce, dollar for dollar, this is true bargain.

You get a lot for you money with this steel.
Shipping
Decided to order this one and it was immediately delivered and omg am i glad that i orderded this one.
Competitiveness
I like this clip better than the sr1 as it's more manageable off and on the belt.
Note: there are other knives with this same steel selling in the $300+ range.
It's hard to find a knife that gets talked about more than the recon, so i won't say much.

While every other blade shape of the recon 1 has a symmetrical grind on the secondary bezel the serrated tanto has a lefty chisel grind flat on the right side of the blade for its secondary bezel

I am lefthanded so it works out for me but if you are righthanded considering the serrated tanto i highly advise you choose a different blade
