Pros

I really like the carry case, lantern fits in it snugly and does not rattle. Case protects unit well. Solidly built and well protected by the plastic case.

A cigarette lighter does the job fine, as does a * of lit pine needles. The only thing that it doesn't have is a self light ignition, but for the price i am not complaining.

The only drawback is the mantle's that came with it were defective. The wire-clip mantles are easier to attach than the traditional string tie mantles. Hard to find mantle lanterns anymore.

It produces enough light to illuminate a large campsite but can be turned down to a low glow if desired. The last perk is that the bugs that are attracted by the light are killed by the heat.

Cons

Reviewer spent ten minutes trying to attach the bottle to the lamp to no avail. The carry case is a clam shell design. The hinge is is plastic and will split apart after a few uses.

I ordered it online and we are bothvery happy with the lantern and the protective case.

You do not need this lantern if you want to stay in the dark or be satisfied with the moon light if any.
