Pros

The ankle and achilles tendon cutouts in the upper neck are generous, allowing free ankle flexion while walking without chafing. I'm also an avid biker (bicycle) and these are very comfortable allowing the foot to breathe.

The new redmond 3 design has a longer reinforcement layer in this area that looks like it might last longer. I feel very loyal to columbia based upon their excellent customer service. Lesson learnt - always invest in good hiking gear.

The columbia ankle-boots are so comfortable that my feet love them. I have a high instep and the lace system lets me get my feet in without problems. The right feels a tad tighter than the left at the toe and the ankle.

Cons

Colombia's just another mainstream brand that survives on their inflated name. The problem is they are not waterproof.

They lace up easily, and felt comfortably broken in after about a week.

Maybe i got a pair from a bad batch, and maybe that's why i got them for 70% off of tetail here on amazon.
