I have had an earlier version of this for my kids and while they worked great they did eventually have to be thrown out because they got moldmildew in the seals and just couldnt be cleaned

The spout piece is simple to use press the oval button on the front to release the spout then fold the spout back down until it clicks when done drinking

They can easily operate the spout mechanisms with one hand and the spout pops up gently so it shouldnt fling drops of liquid or startle your child

It also wont close if anything is blocking it or the back piece like say a little finger

Like other contigo bottles this drinking spout has the silicone mouthpiece that some kids and adults love to chew on and when looking around to see if i could preorder a replacement because i know this is going to happen it looks like the gizmo style would do the trick
