The noise from the dual fans is noticeable at the highest setting in a quite room but its easily drowned out by background noise if there is any

I havent tried using it while its sitting on a desk or other surface but given that it only elevates the computer a bit it shouldnt be an issue

The included cord is just short enough that it cant loop to the other side of my laptop and use the usb 2

You can also eject something like a kindle that reads as a drive thats plugged into the cooling pad without any effect on the cooler
