The coredy ac1200 mini is an excellent wi-fi repeater. It connects to a 5ghz ssid, whereas my previous bt repeater couldn't. The device is dual band meaning that you can either use the 5ghz or 2.

Armed with the quick start guide i set the device to repeater mode and switched on

I had been expecting to have to use my laptop for the setup process but i spotted that the recommended way to set up the device was to use either a mobile phone or tablet

I moved the device to a different area of the house where the wifi signal was weak and plugged it in
