I would suggest putting a little on your finger or on a brush instead of applying it directly on your face as it could wipe off the makeup underneath

However i prefer to rub the blush balm on the back of my hand first and then use my fingers to tap it directly on my cheeks because it gives me more control over where i place the product

I would say the blush has a satin finish but it still looks glowy on my cheeks once i blend it out
