Pros & Cons

Update Pros and Cons

Pros

The sound is crisp and clean. It seems the sound is clearer and fuller. The sound blaster is circa 2013, but it really doesn't matter.

Sound is so much richer and punchier than the integrated solutions. The sound through my headphones is somuch cleaner than the onboard audio.

If you have to unplug your devices, you kinda have to guess and remember which of the 6 ports is which. Find and unplug front panel audio cable from motherboard (connector should be marked audio on motherboard) check audio cable connector matches conn...  Read More

Cons

The driver installation proceeds to varrying percentages of completion and then faults out. The only option is to restart the computer. They reset on every reboot (windows 10).

Playcenter karaoke was a deal-breaker for me. User interface is clunky and difficult to navigate.

This is a bit of scam as it only provides all 7. It claims to be a 7.

Quality

Excellent sound quality in music and gaming (tested using stereo headphones).

Great sound card, love the optical out to my logitech sound system.

I have noticed a huge audio quality boost in film stream audio which i think is in and of itself, horridly compressed.

This card has two sets of audio connections — a set of six 1/8" audio jacks, and an optical s/pdif digital output.

Price

For the price you really can’t beat it.

This is a great audio card for the money.

If you have a little more you are willing to spend, i would recommend the soundblaster z for around $100.

I got this when it was on sale.

Competitiveness

But now, many audigy models (like the audigy fx) are just cheap hd audio chipsets no better than what's already in your computer.

I had previously purchased a different sound card that said it would work with windows 7 but i eventually found out that it wor...  Read More

And it was one of these setting that i least expected

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

If you buy a pc or a laptop these days it almost certainly comes with a sound chipset that implements a standard called hd audio

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

All that really means is the chipset knows how to talk to a hdmi interface like your tv

But hd audio chipsets are actually terrible

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

    Well no you probably dont

But now many audigy models like the audigy fx are just cheap hd audio chipsets no better than whats already in your computer

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

It is not a junk hd audio chipset

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Youll need good speakers and possibly even an external amplifier to let it really strut its stuff but connect it to sound hardware capable of matching what it can put out and it will shine
