Pros & Cons
Pros
When food burns onto the sides, i scrub it off with bonami; when i need a place to set my serving spoon, i find a small plate or a ladle rest. It generally holds enough for 2-3 people plus leftovers, or a good amount for a company potluck. I have stil... Read More
It's easy to clean with a removable basin. I like having a rotary switch, which should outlast the flimsy membrane push button controls on fancier models. Clean-up is very easy.
For a rookie couldn't be more pleased. They tell you which inserts fit which model. The old one still works on high.
Just bought the same one for my bro-in-law. Works great. Purchased to replace my 20+ yr. Works fine. Excellent purchase and would recommend.
Cons
This is not a crock pot you dump ingredients in and head to work for 8-10 hours or expect dry/burnt food. The 5 quart cooker holds just about 4 qts. The weight of the crock part of the thing in the 5 qt model is about half the weight of my original 70... Read More
Meat comes out dry and stringy and veggies are pulverized. The soups come out alright, but aren't anything special. There's nothing more disappointing than putting a good pork shoulder in only to have to smother it in bar-b-que sauce.
Highlights
Quality
The removable crock makes for very easy cleanup
The original crock pot does an excellent job, always!
Don't try to insulate it (wrapping a towel around it etc) or you will either burn out the heating element or melt the handles.
If i'm not home for 6 or so hours, i'm cooking on low (still boils after a few hours), and it doesn't seem to burn anything.
Price
Since it costs me nothing i will use but yeah i wouldn't spend money for it.
Packaging/appearance
I had to return because it was dented.
