When the cord is retracted into the housing after use about two or 3 inches of the cord remains hanging out

You just pull the cord out and across and hook it into the little key hole on the opposite wall then turn the little metal knob that the cord comes out of to lock it from pulling out further while you hang the washing

This one is made from metal and stainless not plastic like some of the others
