Pros
It’s a fab looking seat and is going to be very very durable. Made from wood so quite sturdy. Will be buying again for my other loo.
Easy to install fits most toilet sizes and adjusts to toilet size. Covers the basin well, soft close lid. Mechanism to adjust the best location of the pins is clever. Easy to remove and reset.
Cons
Even the lid coating has started to peel off. Can't tighten it up. It starts off slow then slams from the last 5 inches.
This loo seat is awful! The fittings don't work at all, the seat is wobbly and loose and when you close the lid the entire bracket flips up! The hinges are difficult to fit, hinges come at 90deg to pictured position and are too stiff to fold down. The... Read More

Quality
All in all, this is a stylish toilet seat and if fitted by a competent plumber, it stays in place and works really well.
A good weight and comfortable, with the added advantage of quick fit fixing and gentle drop.
After just over a year of this product being installed, the fixings have broken.
It’s also extremely difficult to detach the seat and the chrome has all rusted.
Price
This one was more than i wanted to pay but so worth it.
This is a good toilet seat for the price but the fittings start to lose their chrome plate after a while.

Nice looking toilet seat - looks nice in our newly refurbished bathroom - well pleased.
Competitiveness

But despite all these criticisms, the croydex portland is one of the best loo seats on the market.
The price was much more competitive than from my bathroom fitter for exactly the same product.

It is very solid looks nice and i love the way it closes quickly but with a satisfying deceleration for the last 2 centimetres resulting in an almost inaudible close

Mine is still functional after i got it just before the start of 2020

I noticed that the soft close does gradually disappear but ive found this the same on all loo seats

Most loo seat manufacturers use metals which are not remotely suitable and which immediately begin to rust
