Pros & Cons
Pros
The cuisinart is a great value. The lid has dimples plus a metal lid knob. Even when using fabric pot holders or silicone clam shaped holders.
If you need to cook a sizeable roast or chicken or simmer a large quantity of soup or stew - this dutch oven is for you. It heats evenly and retains heat well because of the cast iron core.
As in all porcelain glazed pots, the surface needs special care to prevent chipping. I'm glad to have made a step up from a stainless steel pot that let all of the moisture out when i was braising some meat.
Get an oil like flax or evo and brush some on. It's easy to clean, which is a huge plus since many of these beautiful pans are not.
Le creuset and staub are top notch. Cuisinart has an additional 2 of surface area compared to my old knockoff.
Cons
Two years later this is very scratched up and a large piece of enamel chipped from where the screw is inserted into the lid. The surface is not smooth. The chipping enamel especially bothers me.
The skillet handle is so short it barely fits my hand. The handle is also not very ergonomic.
Highlights
Quality
I was very very pleased with the cost.
Excellent quality, the cast iron makes for a very even heat.
Cant register the model # with manufacturer for the warrantee.
It is quite substantial, so be aware of the weight.
Price
Great product at a very reasonable price!
Packaging/appearance
I always had to be careful not to burn the fond in the bottom of the pot because of the aluminum's heat capacity and thermal conductivity.
Competitiveness
It also fits my 12-inch induction cooktop perfectly for searing and dutch-oven cooking.
Much less expensive than le creuset and so far it is equal in every way.
But, if you want a pan that does everything it claims to, without the higher price of competitors, this is it!
