As for steam getting into the grinder area it doesn’t prevent the efficient grinding of the beans which happens before the water starts to be heated

It merely requires the grind basket and cover be rinsed after each use not a very onerous task

If like me you like having an extra brew basket on hand coffee grounds are easier to remove when dry you will need to purchase one directly from cuisinart at an exorbitant price and astounding shipping cost

There are no bells whistles and the grinder is not ceramic like it says but it does a really good job
