The fine chop blade should have come with the unit instead of having to pay extra, otherwise the do what is required.

I have also used it to successfully produce matchstick carrots and apples not sure what u did differently from other reviewers on here but mine worked

Unfortunately i had to return the two boxes of blades i bought her becasue they did not fit her model even though the amazon description said it would
