If the bowl is not completely frozen you wont get ice cream so you have to shake it and tap it to listen for any sound of liquid which means it isnt frozen enough

I had been wrapping the first bowl in plastic to keep ice crystals off but when i quit doing that it would freeze correctly in the allotted amount of time

For people that think this product is loud they must not have ever used a machine that uses ice
