Pros & Cons

Pros

This replaces a slow cooker i had for only 3 years that developed a hot spot. I love the self-coiling electric cord but am a bit disappointed that the plug does not also fully retract instead of sticking out the back of the rewinding mechanism. If you...  Read More

I suggest everyone wash their new slow cookers housing, crock, and lid with soap water. I'm glad that it has a crock pot insert since it will be far more durable than the much more expensive crock pots with metal inserts.

Cons

Cuisinart will only replace the product if the customer pays for shipping back the dysfunctional product. To add insult to injury, amazon doesn't handle this product directly, so you get to pay the shipping charges in advance.

Lid is too small for the crockpot. Over time, it would chip and expose the material underneath the pot’s glazed surface. The ceramic insert is also very large and heavy, making it difficult to clean. Just buy a crock pot.

The unit switches off during cooking. Sirloin tip roast on high for eight hours and not cooked. If you leave the cooker on overnight or unattended, you have no idea how long the ingredients cooked before it went dead.

An issue with them “losing” our file leaves them unable to replace this second dud. My suspicion is that the controls are begin damaged by the cooker. Nothing beings the flaws out in electronics as much as heat does.

Durable, easy to use, easy to clean.

I've had seriously, too many crock pots to count.

Unit is heavy, but that is due to the quality of its construction!

Price

Perfect for the job without having to spend a lot of money.

A little big, but with every penny.

Yes, it's a bit pricey but it is a worth it's weight in gold.

Shipping

Update: called cuisinart, and they are sending a replacement.

Packaging/appearance

Came packaged very well and it's perfect.

Competitiveness

Works well but seems to take longer than my other unit (different brand) to cook the same meal and same size roast.

The cuisinart's overall dimensions are smaller than several others on the market.
