The slightly curved sides get all the way around the bowl without having to turn your wrist to sweep the sides for unblended flour

I have arthritis and using my hands to blend cold butter into flour mix is painful

You still have to take a knife or spoon and scrape butter from between the tines and theres brands that offer a builtin scraper but that just seemed to be one more place to have to try to clean out tiny crevasses
