It catches all that tiny debris when rinsing dishes washing hands etc that would normally go down the drain and threaten to clog it

The pressing seam for the perforated cup is a bacteria trap it should have been filled with epoxy sealer

It will block roaches from crawling out of the drain but is too coarse to block fruit flies

We have a standard sized drain and got this to replace the strainer that is also standard pull knob rubber base but would close up the sink and not work
