Brandon sanderson's skyward series is the third in the starsight series. The action takes place in a floating 'nowhere' that ships pass through when travelling faster than light. This is the first science fiction book i have read by sanderson.

The first person young person presentations feels now quite reminiscent of sanderson’s other series alcatraz vs… and that actually put me off because i’ve never managed to properly get settled in that series

Its amusing that the upfront dedication as opposed to the lengthy acknowledgements at the end refers to getting physics guidance as one thing this place lacks is good physics specifically the conservation of energy

But also for example in the way that all the aliens are just humans with a different shape with the exception of the delvers whose difference is here explained in the juvenile aspects that are particularly strong in the first novel not to mention in the irritatingly pompousyetcute entities

But dont expect sophisticated sf because thats not what this book is about
