Pros & Cons
Pros
It takes the tinny hawaiian sound and turns it into a more guitarish rich sound. That g3 hits a perfect harmonic resonance that really projects. It's a spruce top and it’s loud.
They're strong, durable, beautiful and have a bright, clear tone. They are easy to depress and have an almost elastic feel.
Cons
Fluros are supposed to be warm and projecting. However, they are not. I much rather the sugar formulation. Just awful. Will never purchase again.
I know new strings will stretch, but countless tuning and the last tuning snapped the string. They keep stretching, don't stay in tune. I'm not a hard strummer so i feel this is a defect in the string itself.
The sound with these strings is worse than a plastic dollar store ukulele. It's almost unplayable - makes it sound like a $10 baby uke designed for toddlers to chew on. Well, replacing the aquila's with the d'addarios was a big mistake.
Not the deep fullness i was expecting" seems like glorified fish line to me.

If you dont do this as you are tuning up the strings most of the tension will be applied to the short length of string between the tuning peg and the nut
