Pros

D'addario kaplan non-whistling e has made a huge difference. It takes the shrill tone and squeak out of your playing.

The e string on my antique violin had a wickedly reliable whistle. This is handy (what i'm doing now) but shortens the afterlength. I'm a relatively new fiddler, and this string really helps. They have an elastic quality that enables interpretation.

Cons

I wish something had told me it wasn't a universal adapter.

It is strong, but not to bright or overpowering, has great tone and response.

Moving up to the 4/4 size the e-string made it sound horrible.

I've tried every e string out there (and believe me, i have impeccable technique) and they all squeak.

My teacher recommended this string and the price was reasonable, so i bought it.

Packaging/appearance

I looked it up and discovered the "whistling e string" phenomenon.

Competitiveness

I was finding it frustrating to have my e string squeal on me no matter what brand of strings i used.

It sounds fair but not as warm as my other strings, i probably should install all strings with same brand to keep the same feeling.

For reference, i have used evah pirazzi strings since 2004, and switched over to peter infeld strings last year.
