To test 18500 18650 batteries which dont have the little tips on the plus end like most aa aaa and c batteries have just put a small piece of folded aluminum foil between the toppositive tester contact and the battery when testing to make a good contact

The top tester connection is flat since it expects most batteries have the protruding tip so it cant make proper contact to a battery without the little tip like the 18650
