Pros & Cons
Pros
Can pump up to 10 times for max velocity. It has a super-duper solid pumping lever. The pumping is easy - once you oil the gun ( that should be the first thing you do - it's worth it!
Pellets are crosman premier hollow points, 7. Practiced with about 20 pellets and felt confident enough to give it a try. Loading a pellet is a bit tricky, especially with a scope installed. Now they are the company that makes quality pellet rifles (w... Read More
The fiber optic front sight is very nice to have, it works well. Adjusting gun sights for 70 foot range.
Great for self defense. Great for varmint control. Nothing abusive in how it's been used. I like that it has the ability to regulate the power.
Javelinas are indigenous to the area. They roam in herds. Will definitely work on an armadillo. I like this for plinking and shooting squirrels off the birdfeeder.
Cons
This gun is not accurate. Unable to adjust and zero in sights. Pumping mechanism feels as if it will break off in your hand and feels insecure in its mounts. Extremely inaccurate with bbs.
Highlights
Quality
So far this has been a quality product.
Easy to pump ,smooth trigger pull and light weight.
This replaced a crossman that literally fell apart in my hands with the stock just breaking off.
I do not recommend this, unless you have skill analyzing the functioning of your gun, as you proceed through the steps.
Price
Very happy with the price and the gun.
The quality difference for an extra $10 to $15 is a no brainer.
You get an enjoyable gun for the money with this one.
Otherwise, a very nice air gun for the money.
Shipping
The daisy 901 arrived on time and in great condition.

Shot it right out of the box and it's close but will need to be dialed in.
Competitiveness
My son and i own both and the 901 is far superior.
Ebay has a red ryder peep that works well on this gun and the 880.
I have a crossman 1377, a vintage benjamin 132 and a1977 crossman powermaster 760 to compare.
The 901 is more accurate than the winchester, but the winchester does have noticeably more power.

Wouldn’t recommend it for a scope due to the plastic dovetail but the open sights are pretty darn good and the trigger is surprisingly good

The typical small daisy printed box containing the 901 air rifle had been placed inside another bigger box in which the inadequate packaging just paper used to secure the daisy box to one side had been smashed to total insignificance allowing the smaller box to move around freely from side to side

Luckily the area stoved in on the one side actually had helped keep the inner daisy box up against the other side securely so the inner box and air rifle inside were still totally fine when i got around to unboxing everything

It didnt seem to be damaged thank goodness and it wasnt but i was kind of put off by my first views of the rifle itself

To me it seemed cheaplooking especially the area where the thin rolled metal used to represent the visible barrel the steel very thin rifled barrel actually is inside this larger fake barrel on top is cut and folded down on each side into the area at the front of the forearm pumper

I suppose its possible the rifle was designed long ago and hasnt been updated for awhile but it leaves a very obvious opening where no opening would or should exist on any rifle contributing to an overall look of
