Pros & Cons
Pros
There is a slight (what appears to be) lamination line near the bolster that looks a little cheap as well but is simply cosmetic. Balance is nice, right at the bolster. One thing to note about this knife is the sharpness. The steal used is japanese a1... Read More
The handle is ergonomic for my grip. The transition of handle to bolster to blade is fantastic for pinch gripping. It's a full tang so it was very sturdy and the weight felt good in my hand.
Cons
Very dissatisfied. It is extraordinarily cumbersome and costly to have a knife repaired or replaced. Is this the reason it broke?
It's very difficult to believe this is damascus steel for two reasons. The blade has an almost rough sand blasted texture and no real detail as pictured.
Blade is quite thin, feels cheap. Handle is very slick and thick that gripping this knife is impossible. Square, uncomfortable handle.
Highlights
Quality
The knife is very well, balanced, exceptionally well sharpened, and finished.
The knife is very sharp and looks and feels like real quality.
Dalstrong shogun series made in china, i thought its made in japan
Made it about 9 months before the plastic piece that holds the blade in place snapped in half.
Price
Id recommend this knife to anyone who is new to the industry and is looking for a reliable knife for a good price
This is a great balance between price and quality.
Got a good deal from black friday
Several of my friends have since purchased their own after using mine and i even picked up a spare for myself when i saw it on sale last.
Shipping
Some of the best and fastest customer service i've had on here!
Brittany from customer service was fast and efficient.
Packaging/appearance
Comes in a quality box with a nice sheath
Came razor sharp out of the box.
It came out the box sharper than i can sharpen my knifes on a wet stone and hasn’t slowed down much with use.
Competitiveness
I’ve bought more expensive japanese knives and this is better.
My sister wanted this knife for her birthday as she has a bigger one of the same brand.
