All of my knives have come decently sharp and out of the 6 that i have bought, it was only necessary to return one.

    As for the gray residue that one reviewer noted when oiling his blade that is simply some of the patina acid etching brings out the carbon steel layers in a dark gray almost black color

    Its for that reason that i just want these knives for display because trying to baton a log with such a blade finish is like taking sandpaper to the blade

    It had some voids or poor forge welds in the laminations 2 on the blade spine and 1 on the tang
