Pros
These socks are durable, comfortable, and even stylish. They are his favorite to wear with his fur lined slippers to help keep his feet warm in the winter. They hold up well with multiple uses and outside of minor pilling don't show signs of wear.
Love the quality of the merino wool. Best feature is intangible. They are super durable and have lasted years.
Cons
Buyer beware. They have another website owned by darn tough which are supposedly wider fit, but i don't believe the credit will work on that site.
Pinky toe looks malformed when these socks are worn. They are hard to get on the foot, and toes are absolutely squished together.

Quality
These socks are well made, warm and comfortable.
The build quality is amazing, and the bottom cushion is very comfortable.
The socks have a medium cushion on the sole and heel and very little cushioning on top (a little less than expected).
Even when the socks get wet, your feet stay "dry-feeling" and warm which was shocking to me.
Price
Admittedly $25 seems egregious for a pair of socks, but these are really that great.
And they are worth every penny of it.
These socks are pricey but they are great hiking socks.
This is the kind of thing i would want as a christmas or birthday gift as an adult, not some cheap walmart socks.
Competitiveness
These socks are exactly what i had in the past and previously got at rei.
Some of their competitors sell their products considerably cheaper but offer warranties that are no more than three years.
I've tried a few different brands of wool socks and they all get holes in them after a month or two if they last a month.

If you lose one in the wash its a considerable loss so learn to track them

I dont remember the last time i wore a pair of socks that werent inside out because the seams hurt my toes but it looks like those days are over
