Pros
Dickens' works are so often dark, but usually redeeming in the end. It’s not often that charles dickens is compared with the french philosophe jean jacques rousseau. Dickens is a wonderful story teller and he doesn't disappoint here.
The characters are realistic and varied, exhibiting all of the good and evil of generations. Their mannerisms perfectly portray their psyche. Plenty of well-developed characters to love and to hate.
This book is a classic of such stature that i don't think anybody would really care about my opinion of it as literature. I remember this is the book melanie wilkes read aloud in gone with the wind. Truly a collector's item.
Having this on kindle saves carrying an 800 page+ physical tome about. Fonts are big enough (i get headaches if the font is too small. Could weigh a little lighter like most newer publication prints2.
David realizes that his decision to marry dora was the “first mistaken impulse of an undisciplined heart”. Among other fascinating characters, there is uriah heep, the creepy law clerk, a scoundrel who has tried to undermine david.

If you’re looking to have your mind blown give it a googlefun facts dickens originally intended a christmas carol to be a pamphlet called “an appeal to the people of england on behalf of the poor man’s child” which would be about child labor in the british society
