Pros & Cons
Pros
This multifunction masterpiece has so many pieces and so much software. It could all implode some unfortunate commuter monday morning.
This coffeemaker cycles water to keep all those black box innards working smoothly. Comes with a starter kit that includes a couple of spare parts, descaler fluid and a water filter.
The milk container replaces the hot water nozzle for lattes or cappuccino. The steamed/frothed milk is ennnnnchannnntinnng. It's a good amount of milk froth.
It makes coffee expresso as good as what i had in italy (where it comes from) there's nothing better than having a piece of kitchen equipment that performs beautifully. The italians are known for making the best coffee and espresso.
It deposits the used coffee in a hidden center tray, almost dry, little hockey pucks. Now i no longer need to shove the coffee down with my fingers, so that's a good thing. The cost of a coffee from that burnt beans reindeer place x 12/day (less the c... Read More
Cons
Great features in frothing and brewing but not worth the price. Automatic rinse uses more water and must either be wiped dry or allowed to evaporate so the next cup doesn't get a wet bottom.
Highlights
Quality
It's so simple to use, and the quality of the espresso is as good as any café's.
Bottom line here is that with some practice an a bit of finesse, you can do just about anything with the de'longhi ecam, and th... Read More
We've had the same issue with the machines at the office so it seems to not be a de'longhi-only issue.
Once it's set up, this machine operates almost at the touch of a button, plus the quality is top-notch.
Packaging/appearance
I like that you can move all of the nozzles up and down to better fit your cup- both on the frother and the main machine.
It doesn't take too long and you can leave it alone most of the time as long as you don't forget to clean the milk nozzle and p... Read More
The water accumulates there quite often and it would have been easier to remove the much smaller tray just by itself.
Competitiveness
Much better than the older model and holds a lot of grounds 👌
The machine nagged us to descale after about six weeks of use.
It comes with a descaling fluid bottle.
This replaces our ancient and dead gaggia titanium.

The second coffee maker that we received would not heat water over 140 degrees even following all of the advice again of technical support strike two

If you enjoy the “art” of making an espresso or cappuccino this is not the machine for you

The first of which is what size beans you’re using

There’s a setting in the bean hopper where you can dial in and it makes a difference because if you have the size set too small the machine will beep at you if it doesn’t measure enough when trying to grind for a cup

If you’re a person who frets about excess water being used this is probably not the maker for you as it runs a rinse cycle the first time you turn it on and every time you turn it off

We pour some of it on plants and some outside but note that this machine definitely cycles water to keep all those black box innards working smoothly
