Pros

This is the third vanessa nelson series i read. Looking forward to book 2 and more enjoyment. You won't be disappointed.

A big thank you to the author for sharing their vision so expertly. Written in an easy, flowing style.

The fantasy world is physically recognisable, with the different beings living in a well-defined heirarchy. The mythology/creatures are different but very good. It's a different world with all kinds of creatures in it.

Top notch world building. Unique world building and an interesting mystery/ detective plot.

Cons

The worldbuilding is unuanced and confusing. There is a lack of newness and everything and everyone is and do as expected according to worn fantasy trope. The dialog is clunky and unnatural.
