Using the griddle and flat plates i have also had good results and they really do cook evenly over the entire surface right to the edge

In the broiler oven mode the top plate is raised over the food and does well for open faced sandwiches burgers toasting top of item

The enclosed manual states the plates are dishwasher safe however can reduce the properties of the coating
