This is our second the first one lasted about 2 years, but we did not descale it at all. This espresso maker is super--easy to use, efficient and elegant design.

Had an ec701 for 14years till it started leaking and could not find parts to fix it.
This is our second one: the first one lasted about 2 years, but we did not descale it at all.
Pros: ease of use, programmable (ec 701 was manual and had to make sure you were there to stop the brewing), nice smallish foot print.

I grind my beans on and in between 2 and 3 in the fine area of the dial on the grinder my first brew was on the 1 setting finest in the fine area and the grind setting

With the grind dialed in and not tamping to much the crema and flavor improved

Will add the rancilio steam wand after the warranty is up i don’t steam that much unless somebody wants a cappuccino
