I easily removed it from the mounting plate and i think that the reason it didnt stick is that the back of the plate has a grid of 116 wide strips that are the only areas where the double stick foam can stick

I used machine screws with thin heads pushed through from the inside of the mounting plate back with the front of the plate reattached to hold them in place and then lined up the screws with the holes in my plexiglas and fastened with nuts i forgot to take pictures sorry

I contacted the seller and was given a refund and told to keep the dispenser

I am not sure how the double stick tape provided will perform in a redesigned mounting plate since it did bubble when exposed to the steam of the shower
