Pros & Cons

Pros

It's powerful, well balanced, and has a good brake. The dewalt * work very well. Its a soft flex hose that fights right into most shop vacs.

We're completing a remodel that went down to new framing in areas. This tool adds to a good miter saw, some great circular saws, excellent straight edges and two different table saws. This is the best all around saw i've used in 40 years of framing.

The saw is heavy, but maneuverable. The weight is a good thing and you will feel the torque at startup. This one is only slightly heavier than the mag77 which is supposably the lightest worm drive on the market.

The dewalt tracksaw is a wonderful solution for ripping plywood. Perfect for ripping rough oak boards. Track saws are amazing for this kind of work and for breaking down sheet goods.

Cons

Dewalt management seems unphased about falling behind in tool innovation. It keeps arriving at my house in disrepair. Suggested trying another blade.

Mine has lasted four years no problems and still going strong.

The powertec clamps are cheaply made and one of the clamps fell a pert on the first use.

It's hard to find tools made in the usa this is made in mexico

Price

After you buy a battery and a blade - you're in this for $200.

It was more expensive that amazon, but i was in a pinch.

I wonder how long saws of this type will be available at this price, but, imo this is a tool that you will give to your grandkids.

Shipping

I sent it to dewalt under warranty and the technicians cleaned the whole unit, fixed the arbor lock and returned the saw to me ...  Read More

5 of 5 for the saw, 0 of 5 for delivery.

Packaging/appearance

Out if the box, the saw was true and square, it ran down the tracks perfectly, and the plunge and depth were precision.

Competitiveness

It will not ride on the powertec tracks for festool and other brands.

This one in my opinion is only slightly heavier than the mag77 which is supposably the lightest worm drive on the market.

Some of the others are asking 1200-1500 for one with a smaller blade and less power.
