This bit is listed as a 3/8” shank bit for drilling 9/16” holes. The shank size of 1/2” will not fit most drills. This bit is not a3/8 shank as advertised.
The reduced shank on this drill is excessively long, and of fairly mild steel. Do not buy these and expect to drill steel. Cheap pot metal vs.

I have drilled a lot of steel over years, and overheating the bit will ruin it, no matter how good the bit is.
I drilled several holes through it in very thick steel and it's still extremely sharp

I didnt try it on metal so i cant speak to how durable it holds up to metal but in wood it was still going strong after a few holes i drilled with it
