Pros

The self-cleaning function is a little distracting at first when it sounds like the machine is burping. The thump noise you hear is normal so don't fret. The canister bags make for quick and clean emptying.

It is extremely well made and durable. I'm not in my shop everyday so the current bag is lasting me a long time. Worth every penny.

Although it is louder than my bench sander or table saw, it has more suction than the shopvap it replaces. When you compare the price of this hepa vs other hepa vacuums with the same features this is still a great deal.

Easy to install to our mitre saw. Auto turn-on feature works well too with my miter saw, although makes the breaker trip sometimes in the garage. There is a switch to manually turn on the vacuum, but a remote or something would be nice.

Comes with a quick connect end that snaps onto the adapters or saws with a twist. The hose is very convenient. The plug in that turns it on as needed works great after some pretty heavy use with a belt sander for a few months.

Cons

Low suction power and the hose is constantly clogging. That same hose (even without the broken piece) clogs constantly! If there is still suction but reduced and you don't notice, the vacuum gets hot.

Price

I also recommend the accessory kit for it, expensive but very nice.

These quibbles aside, it does exactly what it should, and for that reason and its bargain price, i'm giving it five stars.

I did not purchase from amazon because i found it for $100 less from one of the big box stores.

Negatives: don't be fooled by the bargain price, the tool set is ridiculously expensive.

Competitiveness

Personally, i find that the suction is just as good, or even better, than the comparable sized shop vacs.

Suction is better than any shop-vac, rigid, or craftsman vacuum that i have ever owned.

I wish dewalt sold adapters or at least had a web page that listed which adapters from other companies would work.

And it's much less expensive than comparable units, or at least it was when i bought it.
