The lid is glass so it does get hot and just be aware where you position the holes, obviously steam comes out of them, lesson learned for me, lol. It has 2 heat settings. It heats very quickly.

The non-stick coating on this is nothing short of dangerous. This pot seems to have serious durability and safety flaws. The wire coming out of the handle, makes it difficult to plug into higher outlets.
