Pros & Cons
Pros
Dialing down the speed eliminated the vibration almost entirely. This is a heavy unit with a good bit of inertia being electric, and it kicks like a mule. The speed adjustment is very handy.
The two collet wrenches are sturdy. The one wrench design on the metabo is nice. The only gripe i have been able to come up with is that the collet nut is hard to loosen when removing bits.
The makita did all this and more--in additon to its raw power. Rigidity of the tool helps make even fine cuts more controllable. Makita products have always been a favorite of mine, their quality is superb!
Side handle is strong and stays in place, though it can be loosened and rotated to suit left handers. Multi-position removable side handle adds greatly to the ease of controlling this workhorse.
Cons
Used same burr. Put same burr in. It just gets stuck and will not come out. Remove the collet assembly from the die grinder and then withdraw.
Highlights

Absolutely chews through wood, becareful though it is super powerful and will bite you if you're not paying attention!
Price
My only complaint is the price fluctuates significantly.
Competitiveness
There are about 5 brands of power tools i own, makita is one of them.
I have similar model but not variable speed controlled that makes me hard to prevent kick in.
