Excellent debut novel and i eagerly anticipate another
I felt that the main character was a little too everyman and i finished the novel feeling that i didnt know much about the main character or what motivates him outside of some vague notion of doing the right thing but i suspect this was intentional to allow child readers to become the main character themselves whilst instilling nice moral values throughout
Our oldest loves it and wants to know when the next one is out as this was left on a cliff hanger this is a really enjoyable read even as an adult approaching the novel with a cynical world view
The story is solid with chapters clearly leading into the next showing steady plot progression and even seemingly random detours have a nice way of feeding back into the main narrative
