One to firmly hold the foot of the device against the flat surface the other to depress the operate button which must be pressed once to turn the laser on and again to measure

The operate button needs to be pressed from beneath the device with the other hand while twisting ones head across the opposite shoulder to look at the point of the laser on the opposite wallsurface
