Pros & Cons
Pros
Meets criteria after initial backyard evaluation. This panel is it! My 2 cents.
The docooler solar charger 10w portable ultra thin monocrystalline silicon solar panel is exactly what i expected. This is the lightest solar panel that i could find for backpacking. Carry a lipstick powerbank in addition to this solar panel to accoun... Read More
This is the lightest charger i have found that can do 4 watts. It's the 3rd one in the 5-10 watt range that i've bought and tested. The trick is to make sure each of the 10 stripes is at least 1/3 exposed.
Anker powercore+ mini, 3350mah lipstick battery pack and it works very well. Was able to keep my battery pack topped up enough to charge my phone every day on a backpacking trip. Plan is to use for backpacking - think it's probably best left connected... Read More
Cons
The solar cell is waterproof (sealed in plastic), the usb part definitely isn't. The manufacturer knows this of course but they advertise it as a 10w in an attempt to fool unschooled buyers, which lets face it, is most people.
It indicates 4. Returned for refund. Repeated test three times. Completely useless.
Highlights
Quality
Works for charging cell phones, rechargeable fans, usb powered fans, power banks and most usb rechargeable devices.
Overall really impressed with the durability, weight, and charging.
This panel is light - it weights only 95 grams.
If you use a long and low quality charging cable you will be wasting your time and money with the panel.
Price
Its affordable and served the purpose of keeping mine and my husbands phones charged.
Worked well for the price, pleased at how light it is!
For $20 bucks, you know, it checked my boxes.
The price has more than doubled recently and that's a bummer.
Competitiveness
I lead expeditions for a living, and this panel has held up to two, 30 day courses so far, which is better than the similar ren... Read More
This panel is slightly heavier than an alternative advertised on amazon, both will work well.
For comparison, my "21 w" 3-panel anker panel, which in practice maxes out at about 13w, is one of the lightest panels out there.
That is equivalent to a standard 1a charger but not a fast charger.
