The novel is fundamentally, thematically, and emotionally timeless. It's an unforgettable journey -- told in beautiful prose, and dazzling cleverness.
It is second only to david copperfield and bleak house. The book is bleak, but the writing is brilliant.

Much too long, too maudlin and the characters too are all stereotypes. She is too good to be true, and that * the story.
