Pros

The "super-smooth-spreadable" factor is unmatched. The dish holds one stick of butter and keeps it spreadable soft. It’s not a tight fit and can slide a tad.

Sturdy & well-made. Looks very french in white, is super convenient and looks so pretty on the table. My particular unit has strange flaws (a dark streak across the whitish top), but functions well.

It's just more natural to grab this type of lid and mechanically easier, as well. The fact that it’s dishwasher safe is fantastic and true.

The crock holds my homemade butter well, and keeps it fresh and spreadable. It keeps the butter soft and fresh. It works to keep my real butter the perfect softness for spreading.

Cons

Third attempt, tried without water and refrigerated. Made butter moldy. I also use salted butter, so it's strange.

This butter crock is not even airtight. I'm not sure what the purpose of this hole in the lid is. Only way i can use it is if it keeps a sheet of foil on the lid to hold the butter inside.
