The heel slippage is very minimal if you size down by a half size plus i just find them to be cozier anyways.
I do not feel like my toes are being squished or anything, but if you suffer from some foot swelling then that might be an issue for you.

When you take a step and transfer your weight onto your toes with your back foot it almost feels like your foot could slip out but it won’t because the seam that goes over the bridge of your foot is so tight and the boot comes up just high enough around the ankle
