Pros & Cons
Pros
As long as you check that it's tight every so often (though mine's not showing any signs of loosening on its own), it's fine. The rubber lining of the ring still works perfectly.
The tripod mounting holes provide an excellent balance point for the lens mounted on an eos 5d mark ii, and thus on all the high-end canon cameras. It is easy to mount and does not slip, it simply gives a sturdy grip on the lens. The one from e-bay is... Read More
Construction is simple cast aluminum and it's very solid. Fit and finish can't be faulted. Solid, reasonably well-made.
It works exactly like the collars on all of my other canon lenses - that is to say, just fine. Can't wait to put this on my lens.

I am very pleased with this purchase and would reccomend it to anyone looking for this item.
Overall, i am satisfied with the collar ring and i would recommend it!
Okay, it isn't as good as canon quality, but one can buy it, it works well, and it costs substantially less that the original.
Price
The fit is perfect and the price was about 1/8th the price of the canon branded item.

The shipping from china was fast and the manufacturer answered my emails immediately so good on them.
Shipping took 2 weeks, much faster than the original estimate.
Packaging/appearance
I would have given it a 5 stars rating if the color matched perfectly and the packaging was better.
It seems to have a decent coating on the inside of the ring to prevent scratching the lens barrel.
Competitiveness
There is a nice pad that has been attached to the inter mounting surface to protect the lens and provide a anti-slip surface.
And, the price reflects the small-business cost as compared to the far, far higher cost of a low-volume high-quality product in... Read More
It does the job for less than $25 compared to the canon version that costs over $150.
