Pros

Dymo label manager 280 is an easy-to-use label maker. It prints at 300 dpi and accepts 3/4 tape. The keys are a little mushy, but the label maker is high quality, prints very nice labels, and has a very nice variety of features.

The rechargeable battery is a godsend. The battery takes a moment of thought to get oriented right and the inner cover snapped back in place. The app is very simple and intuitive.

Cons

The voltage draw is minimal and could be served off usb directly. The voltage of the battery was low and as indicated in the attached image, this is all it says.

It only has one flaw, but it is a fatal flaw- the battery. There's no option for non-rechargeable batteries, and a replacement battery costs as much as another dymo machine that uses aa's. Replacement batteries are marginally cheaper than a new unit.

The dymo calculator has a dim display and no way to darken the lcd display contrast. The text only prints at 75% of the length that it should have according to the preview/design. There are no lcd/display contrast * or functions. It is not the same pr... Read More

I am very satisfied with my purchase.

With the battery removed, the power button makes the screen turn on, but no text is displayed.

With the right one it worked perfectly.

Packaging/appearance

I then see a sticker slapped onto the box from amazon saying, thanks for giving this product another home or something like that.

Competitiveness

I wanted the computer interface and rechargable battery, and most of all i needed it to be intuitive and easy to use.

My few issues with it:the software that shows up to install when you plug the machine in is outdated and could not be installed on my mac.

Even with those down sides, this is still a 5-star review because the cost-benefit of this machine makes it totally worth it!

A replacement battery is available but at about 1/2 of the price of the whole unit.
