The author has gone to great lengths to unpack and exhaustively present aspects of italian that other books touch upon but generally fail to develop in depth for this reason though while it could certainly be used productively by keen beginners it really has much more to offer to intermediate and advanced students in my view and the fact that it does not contain exercises underlines that

For me the book addressed grammar nuances that often perplexed me and prevented further progress in learning the language

My reservations are its written for native speakers of american english not british english and there are far too many simple proofreading errors
