Pros
Ui responsiveness is better than first gen but it is still laggy in some cases. Screen quality is similar so no upgrade there. In addition to the better resolution, larger display, the sound is much better.

It seems to loose it audio over the speaker or bluetooth on a regular basis. When you get a notice that someone has been detected at your ring doorbell it takes 20 to 30 seconds for alexa to wait for ring. The microphone is suspect and easily misses c... Read More
The camera is useless in dark environments. It is also useless if there is strong backlighting, like a bright window in the scene of a dimly light room. The device is worthless, to me, and a total misrepresentation.
The screen autodim just sets brightness to 0% if anything but direct bright light, making the screen impossible to see. The time is literally displayed smaller than on my echo show 5!

Quality
It has good sound quality all by itself for its size but i paired this with an echo subwoofer and together it sounds awesome!
We like the sound quality, and use it for several music services, including prime, sirius, and accuradio.
It works well and functions as it should, but visibly lower quality.
Competitiveness
So far so good and is much more responsive than the gen1 unit it replaced.
Not sure why folks returned this item, but i got a brand-new device for half the price.

The one thing that bugs me about all of these devices is that they keep saying they are happy to help any time “literally”

I just traded in all of my old echo show devices for new ones only to discover amazon is shipping white power cords with black devices and they have taken away the ability to adjust the clock display leaving you with a gigantic clock overlaying your photo slideshow
